|Takahashi Epsilon 180ED Astrograph|
After several years excellent service, I am now selling my Takahashi E-180ED, along with the rest of my observatory.
This astrograph is in very good condition. There is one small mark in the exterior paintwork (caused by a snail being dropped by a bird!). The secondary collimation screws have some paint missing. As with any Tak of this type, that is common, following any adjustments. There is the usual amount of dust on the primary, which is to be expected of a scope that has been used for a while. However, the mirrors are years away from needing a clean, and it does not affect the performance of this excellent instrument.
Included in the sale are the E-180, a pair of tailor-made Parallax tube rings (in my opinion more versatile, than the Takahashi ones, and a better colour!), an ADM Losmandy plate (length depending upon what is required). An Altair Astro finder-guider can also be included on a home-made mounting plate, by negotiation.
Most importantly of all, the scope is fitted with a Moonlite CRL 2.5" motorised focuser. Anybody familiar with the Epsilon knows that the original focuser is the weak link in the chain, and is underengineered for the scope. The Moonlite CRL addresses this problem, providing a rock-solid platform for mounting any manner of DSLR or large-format CCD worthy of this incredibly fast, very flat-field reflector. A HitecAstro Mount Hub Pro (MHP) is included to control the focuser. The original Takahashi focuser is also included, together with the optional 7:1 geared mechanism for it.
Lastly, a cut-down Astrozap dewshield and a homemade fabric cover is included. The original metal telescope cap is of course also provided.
The telescope will come in its original triple-box. The outermost box is scruffy from being stored, but the interior boxes are good. The original manual and toolkit are also included.
I'll be sorry to see it go, but the weather and time constraints are forcing me to scale back my astrophotography significantly. There is no other reason for the sale, and I am in no hurry to sell. I want this scope to go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.
I am asking £3,000 for all of this, which is a very fair price for what is being included. I will entertain sensible offers. It is possible that this telescope could be delivered, but it would depend on location, and cost would need to be discussed. Collection would be preferred.
Thanks for looking.
